I am writing this letter in relation with two papers published in SpringerLink with the following details:
1)M. M. Ajjalallah and M. R. R. Daronkola, " Total spectral assignments and 2D NMR study of PVAc-b-PMA and PVAc-b-PMMA block copolymers", Journal of Polymer Research, pp. 1-13, 2011. URL: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s10965-011-9598-2.
2)M. M. Ajjalallah and M. R. R. Daronkola, " Microstructure of poly(vinyl acetate)-block-poly(methyl acrylate-co-methyl methacrylate) block terpolymers. 2D NMR and thermal study", Journal of Macromolecular Research, 2011, Volume 19, Number 2, Pages 156-165.
My concern is about the first author of these papers whose full name is "Mahdi Moeud Ajjalallah". This name is an Islamic religious name and there is no real person with this name. A group of Muslims believe Mahdi Moeud Ajjalallah is absent for now and will come back in future to change the world. Hence, this can be considered as a fault of the second author who has intentionally put this name as the first author of these papers. I would like to mention following points:
1- We all know that "a person can be given the authorship credit for a work only when he has met all the following conditions:
a) He has substantial contributions to conception and design, or acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data
b) He has drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content
c) He has done final approval of the version to be published
This is due to the fact that meeting these conditions guarantees that all authors have participated sufficiently in the work to take public responsibility for appropriate portions of the content." But, how can a religious symbol meet these conditions?
2- Bringing political and religious issues into the science context is an unethical and unprofessional behavior. As the second author has been probably aware that the editors and the reviewers do not know about this religious symbol, possibly he has done this to abuse your journal to promote his religious believes or to benefit from his local religious government. It is worth to know that the second author is a university professor and definitely is aware of research ethic norms.
Considering all these points, I would request you to take a proper action against this serious case of misrepresentation of facts and pay enough attention to the reputation of your journal.
